This is surprisingly clean and cozy. I figured that, between her, and the drunk bunny, things would be a bit, disarranged.

    • Farah’s life is a bit of a mess, but her apartment is pretty clean! Though I haven’t drawn the messiest corners of the place yet (Bunny’s corner, the bathroom and the piles of clothes all over the floor in the bedroom and living room.) The “team slob” is actually someone else…. ;)

      • Ilmari

Yeah, messed up lives don’t mean messed-up living spaces! I’m often at my tidiest when I’m feeling at my worst.

… It may be a coping strategy. :p

The pile of clothes bordering on developing sentience and issuing their manifesto ultimatum?
The stagnant towels demanding someone vote them into office?

Water/Central Heating heaters out in the open used to be common in the UK, but they are usually a lot smaller gas heaters & above the counter.

Not those godawful terrible storage heaters which give 2 gallons of hot water unless you switch them to heat hot water, then they give 4 gallons. After an hour. For some reason there was a fad a while back for installing those monstrosities but it seems to have thankfully passed, probably because they take up too much space.

  • I assume that’s a water heater by the stove. Unless of course it’s actually a containment device for some past enemy disguised as a water heater.

    • That is indeed the water heater!

      • Matt [in Middletown]

It contains a defeated “purple slime (fire alignment)” suborned to heat water.
It mostly reads pulp romance novels instead.

The real mystery of the series
What is Bunny smearing on his/her (which is it again) toast?

    • TheMadLibrarian

I’m guessing jam; it’s too drippy for peanut butter, and the jar is the wrong shape for Marmite.

I can’t recall ever staying in an apartment where the water heater was out in the open like that (although I have seen bathrooms with an on-demand one above the tub). It is convenient having the breaker box right there, however, having lived in a house where the box was in the basement, in someone else’s apartment. Made it tricky if you popped a breaker and the other tenants weren’t available.

      • I couldn’t decide between peanut butter and nutella so it ended up looking like an unholy mashup of both!

I’ve also never been in a place that had the water heater out in the open, but I saw it in a photo of a ratty apt near here and I new that it would work with Farah’s place. I’ve had the heater in the basement of another apartment, a huge central water heater (that almost exploded once haha…. I lived in a hellhole) and a heater in my closet… XD

        • WaytoomanyUIDs

Water/Central Heating heaters out in the open are still fairly common in the UK, and not just in ratty flats, but they are usually a lot smaller gas heaters & above the counter (and nowadays hidden in a fake cabinet).

Not those godawful terrible storage heaters which give 2 gallons of hot water unless you switch them to heat hot water, then they give 4 gallons. After an hour. For some reason there was a fad a while back for installing those monstrosities but it seems to have thankfully passed, probably because they take up too much space.

          • I lived in a terrace(i think that’s what they’re called?) house in Cardiff for a year when I was a tiny larval human and one of the things I remember was my mom’s hatred of the water heater. I can’t remember what kind it was, but it took forever to heat water, the water was always scalding and it would run out in no time… So yeah I think UK storage heaters are actually the worst! XD

  • The Wizard of Iz

I’ve had apartment kitchens far smaller than that.

  • Delta-v

Are the Christmas lights for this year, or from last year?

    • they’re 4-season lights! Good all year round!

      • D. Schwartz

Or as my my wife calls them: Accent lighting. And done well it’s rather nice.

  • Lilac

*looks over shoulder at own apartment kitchen* Farah’s kitchen is downright spacious. It’s what mine dreams of growing up to be like one day.

    • Yeah, I should have been clearer, drawing Farah’s kitchen made me think of my old kitchen (which was about the size/layout of Farah’s, and average-smallish for an apartment here). But thinking of my old kitchen made me think of my FIRST kitchen, which was waaaaay smaller than this one (it had maybe 1 square meter of floor between stove-fridge-sink, and to this day gives me cockroach-infested flashbacks….) XD

  • Ilmari

A small kitchen it may be, but about the same size as mine… less modern design though. But… where is the fridge?

    • The fridge is approximately where the “camera” is, and would probably be blocking the entire shot if it were a real scene, hehe XD

  • Matt [in Middletown]

Umm, well, uh.. that is to say.. I may have flipped some switches and messed with some geometric sketches here and there.

  • Matt [in Middletown]

Those are looking for someone to sign them.
Seems they have a great routine.

  • Matt [in Middletown]

Being blasted through n-dimensional portals is embarrassing enough.
Blasted into a bathtub, whether or not it is occupied, would be mortifying.

  • “Kitchen? Well, we called it a kitchen. It were more like two sticks to rub together t’start t’fire…”

  • Nikary Flare

Bunny’s following the logic of a game called Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar where NPCs tell you you’re up early at 11:59.

  • Derrick Keith Feemster

Anyone else concerned that a sentient being using a liter box in the kitchen? lol

    • Thorin Schmidt

No, she has an actual cat, remember?

      • Derrick Keith Feemster

I totally forgot about that lol.

  • Rob Lyman

Farah is supposed to be fairly short, right? And yet, she’s got stuff on top of the cabinets…I notice because I’m six feet and *I* stretch to reach stuff up there…(I assume there’s a kick stool somewhere in the clutter)

    • It’s probably the stuff she uses very rarely, and that she finds she suddenly needs at the most inconvenient of times.

    • She’s indeed short, she just puts stuff she doesn’t need up there, and if she does, she climbs up on the counter XD

  • Paul Stefanini

Welp. Now I feel a little bad for myself because that “tiny kitchen” is uh… a tad bigger than the one I currently have.
At least everything I need to cook with is within arm’s length…

    • Heh, I didn’t mean to imply this was a tiny kitchen, although I realize I really wasn’t clear! XD This one is pretty close to the size of my 2nd apartment kitchen… which was about 3x bigger than my first one (the one I was thinking about as a “tiny kitchen”). It wasn’t big enough for a full sized fridge and it was impossible to open the (old, old, old) fridge and the oven door at the same time… Drawing the one made me think about the other XD

…I don’t miss it, but that might also be because of the roaches. XD

(Farah’s kitchen is actually pretty standard as far as single-person apartments go, at least size-wise… it’s not standard to have the hot water tank just sitting there…)

      • Paul Stefanini

Actually, let me apologize. I didn’t mean to impugne your own experience!
And, I do like my little kitchen for what it worth.
Either way, I love seeing other folks and the way they live. So, very appreciative of you showing your/Farrah’s side of it.

  • Psyraptor

now im wondering, is her hair dyed, or do her powers make it pink

    • Her powers make it pink. (but normal people would see her hair as dark brown, unless she dyed it. Then they’d see it as we see regular dyed hair, but to all magical girls/creatures it would always look the same pink as it does now)
